Action Plan:

  • To get in touch with Joy, visit her website!

  • Research local insurance agents in your area who specialize in business insurance- if they offer quality services, consider moving your other insurance to that company, in order to bundle and save.

  • When you are speaking with the agent, be as thorough in your explanation of your business as possible. Do you rent or own your work space? What sort of equipment, gear or assets do you need to insure? What is your specialization?

  • Ask the agent if an umbrella policy is applicable to you. Liability? Errors and Omissions? Workers Comp (if you have employees)?

  • Consider setting up your retirement fund- I recommend a Roth IRA for small business owners and freelancers- and start making contributions early and often. The younger you are when you start contributing to your ROTH IRA, the earlier you can stop making contributions, and let the compounding interest work in your favor!
